Hunters Hill PS

STEPtember 24

For people living with cerebral palsy.

We're moving 10,000 steps per day - each! It'll be a challenge, but worth it knowing we're also fundraising to support people with cerebral palsy. We'd really appreciate if you could show us your support by donating today.

Together, we can make a real difference– one move at a time!

Our Updates

Meet Our STEPtember Ambassadors

At HHPS, students are pounding the pavement with enthusiasm as they race to rack up as many steps as possible for their class in STEPtember! The energy is contagious, with students encouraging each other and showing amazing teamwork as they step towards a truly wonderful cause.
This year, our motivation to participate in STEPtember is inspired by three incredible Student Ambassadors: Amalia, Jeremy, and Toby. These students remind us every day why this challenge is so important and how research and funding can make significant improvements.
Let’s take a moment to meet Ambassador Amalia, whose strength and spirit inspire us all:
Ambassador Amalia:
Meet Amalia, with a smile that can light up the room, she lives with dystonic quadriplegia cerebral palsy, a condition caused by a lack of oxygen during labour. While her cerebral palsy affects her movement, muscles, and speech, it hasn’t slowed down her zest for life one bit! Amalia is known for her fun-loving nature, adventurous spirit, and unstoppable ambition.
Whether she’s enjoying a thrilling activity that gives her an adrenaline rush or simply sharing a laugh with her classmates, Amalia brings joy to everyone around her. She loves her school, her teachers, and her peers, and they love her back just as much. With her determination, Amalia is committed to working hard to achieve her goal of living an independent life in the future.

Ambassador Toby
Meet Toby, an 11-year-old cheeky pre-teen brimming with confidence. Toby has Dystonic Cerebral Palsy and uses a wheelchair to get around, but nothing stands in the way of his dreams for a bright future. His favourite subject is Science, and he’s lightning-fast at doing maths sums in his head—so fast, in fact, that he doesn't need to write anything down. His brain works like a computer! Over the last 2 years Toby has brought cheers to the crowds in his representative Bocce and Ten Pin Bowling, along with his Race Running at School and Zone Carnivals.
Toby has a great group of friends who totally get his zany sense of humour, making every day fun. The assistive technology Toby uses—like his wheelchair and EyeGaze Computer—has been a game-changer in his life, giving him the tools to succeed. Toby loves to show his skills on his EyeGaze completing his assigned work using his eyes . These resources, provided by the Cerebral Palsy Alliance, have had a huge impact on his independence and outlook. Toby is excited to attend mainstream high school next year, just like his peers and cannot wait to tackle anything in his way.

Ambassador Jeremy
Meet Jeremy, a true warrior and an inspiration to us all. Jeremy’s story began with a neonatal stroke at birth, which resulted in a right-sided hemiplegia. Shortly after, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and doctors weren’t sure if he would ever be able to walk. But Jeremy has always been a fighter. With unwavering determination, countless hours of therapy, and a strong will, he continues to grow from strength to strength.
While living with cerebral palsy has made some everyday tasks challenging, it has not stopped Jeremy from dreaming BIG. He has his heart set on one day representing Australia at the Paralympics in snowboarding. His grit and perseverance are shining examples of what can be achieved with hard work and a positive mindset.

Why STEPtember is important to our organisation.

Every 20 hours, an Australian child is diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

We're STEPing up this September to fundraise to support Cerebral Palsy Alliance in their mission to help people with cerebral palsy live their best lives.

STEPtember participants are passionate about being healthy, building a more inclusive world and making a life-changing impact for people with cerebral palsy.

Will you STEP up with us for cerebral palsy?
