STEPtember 24

Our son, Sage, is a kind, loving, inquisitive five-year-old. He loves crabs, swinging in our garden hammock and playing with his sisters. Sage has a genetic ‘misspelling’ of a gene called SCN8A. This means he has delays in movement and communication, along with other diagnoses including epilepsy and autism. Sage changed our world; he opened our eyes to the beauty in the small and simple things, and the true gift of seeing and experiencing the world differently. He is an incredible kid who continues to smash every expectation and limit set by his care team.

I work as a researcher at Cerebral Palsy Alliance, and my work focuses on new and innovative treatments for children with cerebral palsy and developmental disabilities. I believe in equity and opportunity for every child. Every child deserves a voice, ‘a seat at the table’, an opportunity to participate fully and meaningfully in the things that are important to them. Your donations will help to make this a reality for millions of children, like our Sage. Thank you for your support as Sage and I aim to hit 10,000+ steps a day over the month of September!

Why STEPtember is important to me

Every 20 hours, an Australian child is diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

I'm STEPing up this September to fundraise to support Cerebral Palsy Alliance in their mission to help people with cerebral palsy live their best lives.

STEPtember participants are passionate about being healthy, building a more inclusive world and making a life-changing impact for people with cerebral palsy.

Will you STEP up with me for cerebral palsy?
