For people living with cerebral palsy.
We're moving 10,000 steps per day - each! It'll be a challenge, but worth it knowing we're also fundraising to support people with cerebral palsy. We'd really appreciate if you could show us your support by donating today.
Together, we can make a real difference– one move at a time!

Our Updates
We've Reached 87% of Our Goal!
As STEPtember comes to a close, we are thrilled to announce that we’ve reached 87% of our fundraising goal! This incredible achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing support from everyone who’s donated, stepped up, and spread the word. A heartfelt thank you to all of you!
Each step we’ve taken, and every dollar we’ve raised, has brought us closer to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with cerebral palsy. Our team has shown so much dedication, and the community spirit has been inspiring. Special thanks to Moses and his family, whose story reminded us why we’re stepping up this month, and to Kosta's Café for their generous support along the way.
But we're not done yet! With a little more help, we can still reach our goal. If you haven’t had a chance to donate yet, now’s the perfect time. Every contribution, big or small, will help us get there.
Let’s finish strong and make this final push count! Thank you again for your incredible support.
We are so proud and thankful for all support!
We’re getting close to reaching our STEPtember fundraising goal of $10,000! So far, we’ve raised $7,110 and logged over 8 milliion steps to support the Cerebral Palsy Alliance. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has contributed so far!
At ConnectSydney, this cause is personal. Moses and his son Richard’s story has reminded us why we’re stepping up. Their strength has inspired us to keep pushing, not just for the steps, but to make a meaningful difference for families living with cerebral palsy.
What many people may not know is that 1 in 3 people living with cerebral palsy also face mental health challenges. This made our Step Up & Check In Buddy Walk for RUOK Day particularly impactful. Walking side by side with colleagues opened up space for important conversations about mental health, underscoring how these small moments of connection matter.
As we approach the finish line, we’re inviting everyone to consider donating the equivalent of a virtual coffee for themselves and a friend. Just like sharing a coffee can spark meaningful conversations, a small donation can make a real difference for families like Moses and Richard’s.
Every step, every dollar, and every conversation counts - thank you for your continued support in helping us make a difference!
RU OK? Day
Today on RU OK? Day, we take extra care to reflect on the importance of checking in with those around us. We know that mental health is just as important as physical health, especially in our industry where stress and pressure are constant. Suicide is the leading cause of death among Australian men aged 15 to 44, surpassing both car accidents and cancer. That’s why today’s message is so vital: checking in with a mate could make all the difference.
What is RU OK? Day?
RUOK Day was started in 2009 by Gavin Larkin after losing his father to suicide. He created this initiative to stop others from experiencing the same loss by encouraging people to talk about what’s going on in their lives, especially before things get too tough.
Why it matters in our industry
In Australia, about 8.6 people take their lives every day, and roughly 65,000 attempt to. Workers in our industry face an even higher risk due to the stress and conditions on the job. By breaking down barriers and checking in with your mates, we can ensure they’re doing alright and offer support before it’s too late.
At ConnectSydney, we’re stepping up by making mental health and wellbeing a priority through our Step Up and Check In initiative. We encourage our team to connect, check in with each other, and support one another every day, not just on RUOK Day.
As part of this commitment, we’re hosting our Step Up & Check In Buddy Walk today. This is a perfect chance to take a break, grab a colleague, go for a walk, and have an open conversation about how you’re doing. Don’t forget to pick up your coffee voucher from Sonia or Anna, and enjoy a coffee on us, generously donated by our friends at Kostas, after your walk!
It’s about more than just one day
While RU OK? Day happens once a year, checking in on each other is something we need to do all year round. Keep the conversation going. Keep supporting each other.
How you can help
- Ask the question: Simply ask your mates, "Are you OK?" and be ready to listen. Offer support, and follow up when needed. You can access the official RUOK conversation guide here.
- Support the cause: If you'd like to contribute, consider donating directly to RUOK and their ongoing efforts in suicide prevention and mental health awareness. Visit RUOK? Donate to help keep these vital conversations happening.
- Continue checking in: Make sure to check in with your mates beyond just today. Meaningful conversations and ongoing support can make all the difference.
- Donate: When you donate to our STEPtember fundraising, every dollar supports life-changing therapies, services, and research for children with cerebral palsy.

Our teams are moving 10,000 steps daily throughout September to support people with cerebral palsy
ConnectSydney is committed to making a difference, and this September, we’re raising funds to support families like our friend Moses and his son Richard, who lives with cerebral palsy.
Together, we’re stepping up to support those who face daily challenges, and every step counts.
Let’s make Richard proud by reaching our goal.
Help us by donating now.
Our teams are moving 10,000 steps daily throughout September to support people with cerebral palsy!
- Start by forming your team of 4 and coming up with a great team name. Let’s see who can come up with the best name!
- Go to STEPtember Registration Link and register as a team captain. Invite your three teammates – they’ll get an email to join your team.
- If you’ve got an invite already, just accept it and you’ll be in that team!
- Download the STEPtember app and you’re all set!
- Pro Tip: Think about adding members to your team who might need a bit of a push – you can all encourage each other to stay motivated and reach your goals together.
