STEPtember 24

FOR PEOPLE WITH CEREBRAL PALSY.

Moving towards 10,000 steps a day is one heck of a challenge! But each move will be made easier knowing it's all for a very worthy cause. Every dollar I raise will support life-changing research, treatment, services and assistive technologies to help people with cerebral palsy. Please help me support this great cause, and let's STEP up together, for cerebral palsy.

Birthday Week Recap! 🎉

Monday 23rd Sep

I took a day off for my birthday, planning to indulge in some pampering. But since I wasn’t feeling my best, I opted for a relaxing day at the beach instead. It ended up being exactly what I needed – a slow, peaceful stroll along Altona Beach. 🏖️🚶‍♀️

Weeknights were meant for cleaning and preparing for Saturday’s dinner with friends, but work was hectic and I wasn’t feeling up to it. So, I ordered dinner instead and focused on tidying up the house on Saturday itself – needless to say, I definitely racked up some steps during the pre-dinner hustle! 🧹💪

Sunday was all about fun and fitness! I played badminton with friends, which helped me stay active and get those extra steps in. Despite a week that included an ECG, blood, and urine tests, I’m proud to say I still exceeded my step goals! 🏸👟 And the cherry on top? I received another donation! 🙌

Feeling grateful for another year and excited to keep stepping towards the finish line!

Halfway There!

Sunday 15th Sep
Week 1:
Kicked off Week 1 with a bang! Motivated and ready, I managed to get a good amount of walking during our trip to Dinner Plain – lots of scenic hikes and strolls. 🌲🌄 I even squeezed in some early morning walks to keep the momentum going. Best of all, I surpassed my fundraising goal of $500 in the very first week! 🎉

Week 2:
This week was a bit more hectic on both the work and family fronts, but I’m proud to say I still found time for walking lunches – whether around the block, on the treadmill, or a quick lap around the office. 🏃‍♀️💼 No new donations this week, but I’m thrilled that my fundraising page has the highest donations in our office! Our team is absolutely crushing it – we’re currently ranked #1 for fundraising and holding strong at #2 for steps! 💪🚀

Let’s keep stepping and making a difference! 👣 #Steptember2024

Day 3 and motivated!

Tuesday 3rd Sep

Day 1 - was spent walking around the shops, coz it was a weekend! :) I almost made it to my 10k steps goal!

Day 2 - was spent indoors (I was WFH too!) because of the terrible windy day!  It was good coz I was able to finally use my dust-covered treadmill again lol!  Once again, I almost made it to my goal, I had 9,845 steps!

Today is so much better!  At lunchtime, I was able to walk outdoors, with hubby and our dog Nico! As of writing this update, I'm less than 500 steps to reach my goal, so I'm sure I'm going to reach it today!  :)

More importantly, I have 5 donations and almost halfway to my target!!!  Yay!

STEPtembering Again in 2024 :)

Tuesday 3rd Sep

Since 2017, I’ve been a proud supporter of Steptember,  supporting people with cerebral palsy by taking on the STEPtember challenge for Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA).

I'm still with the Wyndham City Council but this year, Youth Services has kindly adopted me!  I’m part of Coxy's Champion Crew – with Andrew, Brett and Tori.  I’ve committed to moving my way to 10,000 steps every day of September, rain or shine, outdoors or indoors, which is going to be a challenge (especially for me 😊😊😊)! But I’m up for it knowing that every dollar I raise will support research, treatment, services and technologies to help babies, children and adults with cerebral palsy.

A baby is born with cerebral palsy every day. They will have problems with movement, and many will have intellectual disability, seizures, problems with vision, hearing or speech. 1 in 2 are in chronic pain, 1 in 3 can’t walk, and 1 in 4 can’t talk.  With your support, CPA can provide early detection and intervention therapy which can drastically improve the future of these babies’ lives. It could be the difference between whether a child can walk or talk.

I’ve set myself a goal to raise $500. Could you chip in a donation today to help me on my way?  Please note that every donation goes straight to Steptember and fully tax deductible!  You’re helping this cause and saving on your taxes too!  😊

Why STEPtember is important to me

Every 20 hours, an Australian child is diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

I'm STEPing up this September to fundraise to support Cerebral Palsy Alliance in their mission to help people with cerebral palsy live their best lives.

STEPtember participants are passionate about being healthy, building a more inclusive world and making a life-changing impact for people with cerebral palsy.

Will you STEP up with me for cerebral palsy?
