STEPPING FOR KAI AND BABIES AT RISK OF CP

For us it is personal, when my husband Mitch & I welcomed our son Kai into the world in February 2019. It was far from a smooth entrance and as a result of a brain injury caused at birth, Kai was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.  Cerebral Palsy ranges from the inability to move a finger, to being bound to a wheelchair. It all stems from an injury or trauma to the brain from the time of birth. What this means for Kai is that he has some issues with movement on his left side.

On a positive note Kai was accepted into an Early Intervention research trial run by the Cerebral Palsy Alliance who provided Kai with intensive physiotherapy and occupational therapy every week at home until he was 2 years of age.  For first time parents, this time was extremely stressful for Talei and Mitch not knowing what the future held for their baby Kai but having the support of the therapist go to their home and for free was the most amazing help they needed. All of which is all funded by events and fundraising like this one!!

The help and guidance of Cerebral Palsy Alliance is invaluable so this year Kai’s Auntys Krystle and Oli and Uncle Craig and I have put together a team “Kai’s The Limit” and are taking part in ‘STEPtember’ to commit to 10,000 steps per day for all of September to raise vital funds for children and adults living with Cerebral Palsy and to raise awareness for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance and the amazing support they give families like ours.

Any amount you contribute would make a huge difference to help such an amazing organisation which is now very close to our hearts, offer support to children and adults living with cerebral palsy and of course encourage us to complete our 10,000 steps per day! No donation is too small!

Why STEPtember is important to me

Every 20 hours, an Australian child is diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

I'm STEPing up this September to fundraise to support Cerebral Palsy Alliance in their mission to help people with cerebral palsy live their best lives.

STEPtember participants are passionate about being healthy, building a more inclusive world and making a life-changing impact for people with cerebral palsy.

Will you STEP up with me for cerebral palsy?
